How To Make a Delta Zeta Sorority Picture Frame

Delta Zeta Picture Frame

Make the perfect frame for a cherished photograph. I think that the easiest frame to decorate is one that is painted solid white. You only have to paint your chosen design on a white frame to make it very special. There are any number of ways that you can decorate a frame. Your imagination is your only limit. This frame was very easy to complete. I used acrylic paint and a quality paintbrush.
  1. I started by painting the green and pink border lines around the entire frame. These lines follow the molding of the frame.
  2. Then I painted the sorority's name also in pink and green adding little hearts on the ends.
  3. Finally, I used the plastic end of my paintbrush to paint the dots.
  4. The picture doesn't show it, but the frame hangs by a lovely pink ribbon. This is easy to add with a glue gun. It makes the frame look lovely.

I would love to see other ideas for picture frames. If you have painted a sorority frame, please send in a picture for this blog. My email link is in the sidebar.

Phi Mu Lion with Special Necklace

Here is an easy way to make a stuffed animal such as this lion into a very special representative of your sorority, in this case, Phi Mu. Make a necklace with a ribbon chain and a charm from a foam star.
Simply
1. paint your Greek letters on the foam star
2. punch a hole with a regular hole puncher
3. thread the ribbon through the hole
4. Tie necklace round the neck
5. Add a pretty pink ribbon bow
Now look what you have made! So easy....

And by the way, other foam shapes will work well, too. A heart would be beautiful.
Check out these:
Teddy Bears for Kappa Delta
Turtles for Delta Zeta
Pandas for AOII
Lions for ADII, too.
Owls for Chi O (though stuffed owls are hard to come by) I plan to create a pattern for making a stuffed animal OWL very soon.

Also,
Dolphins
Frogs
Poodles
Unicorns
Ladybugs
Hannah Dolls
Penguins

Please send me a picture if you use this idea. I would love to see your results. (email link in sidebar)
Thanks,

Julie

Greek House of Fonts was created with the Greek Collegiate system in mind. Greek students from frat and sorority houses all around can download cool fonts and lettering types to add a touch of character and life to their collegiate apparel and other printable goods.

This site is not only for the Greek system, the Greek fonts are perfect for graphic designers to use in fliers, layouts and even for menus for Greek restaurants.

If you don't see what you want, Sebastian of the font design team would like to help you. He wants you to contact him and let him know what you are looking for. He is always looking for new ideas.

Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu Lion Gift Bags

I was so happy when a saw a beautiful LION stencil at my local craft store. I often paint lions that are cute, but this lion stencil is regal. The blue bags are not the right color blue for ADII (Alpha Delta Pi) but the result is very pretty.

I stenciled some white bags for Phi Mu.

Though the picture doesn't show it, I finish gift bags by punching 2 holes at the top of the bag with a hole puncher. I take a length of ribbon, run the ribbon through the holes and tie a pretty bow to seal the bag with a gift inside.

Instead of stencils, bags can be decorated with stickers, markers, or simple painted designs. The possibilities are endless. These bags are lunch bag size, but you can purchase solid colored gift bags with handles for 50 cents and make them truly beautiful with a little decoration. Gifts that you put time and effort into mean the most!!

Chi Omega Owl:Easy to Paint on a Box!

Here is a hand-painted owl design on a tan paper-mache oval box. The Chi Omega letters can be added or a personalized message. There is plenty of space for a personal note to be painted.

The idea is easy to duplicate. Craft stores carry paper boxes as well as wooden ones. You can paint the box what ever color you desire. Trace a design you like onto paper(in this case I drew an owl design). Transfer the design to the box by placing a sheet of graphite paper (from crafts store) under design and drawing the lines of the design with a pen with enough firmness for the design to be marked on the box. Now you are ready to paint. I use acrylic paints for almost all of my artwork because they are so easy to work with and to clean up!

Handpainted Chi Omega Owl Purse

Here is an idea for a sorority handcrafted gift: a simple purse embellished with your sorority mascot painted with acrylics. This example is a small denim GAP purse with a Chi Omega owl happily sitting on a branch.

HINTS FOR PAINTING ON FABRIC:

Use acrylic paints to paint on fabric. They feel stiff when they dry, but if the fabric is not in direct contact with skin, then the stiffness doesn't matter much.

If you ever paint a tee shirt, be sure to wash it first to remove the sizing that new clothing contains. This assures that the paint will adhere to the fabric better. The paint dries to the touch very quickly, but wait a few hours so that it is thoroughly dry. Then set your iron on the wool setting and preheat it. Place a piece of paper on top of your painted design and iron the design for about 10-20 seconds. The paper will pick any paint residue rather than dirtying your iron. The heat will set the paint so that it will not wash out.

Painted clothing should be turned inside out when you wash it. Machine washing on gentle is usually fine for painted designs. A gentle wash and a delicate tumble dry (low heat) will give you painted design a long life.

Do you think you could do it? What else would you like to have directions for? Leave a me a message

Delta Zeta Design- Handmade Gift Idea

A new Delta Zeta design. I incorporated the turtle into the Greek "D".

Decorating plastic items is easy with paint pens. The pens are made to adhere to surfaces that regular paint would scratch off of. With a little practice, you can decorate almost any item and make it into a personalized gift. You have to try it.

Handcrafted gifts are more special anyway because you are giving of yourself. Also, it's fun and saves you a lot of money. Factory made sorority gifts can be very expensive.

Creating Powerful Conversations During Formal Sorority Recruitment

By Jessica Gendron

People don’t join organizations. People join people.

A lot of you are probably a little confused and may even be thinking, what does that phrase have to do with creating powerful conversations? A lot actually.

Think back to when you joined you chapter and try to remember the exact reason that you joined. For most you, you aren’t thinking about a trophy or philanthropy event. You are thinking about a person, and not just any person, you know the exact name of the person that was the reason you joined. Right? For most of us, that is 100% true. We didn’t join because of some trophy the chapter won, or the fraternity they hang out with, or even the service project they do. We joined because of someone we had an awesome conversation with or that made you feel completely comfortable in the uncomfortable environment that is sorority recruitment. We didn’t join because it was Alpha Alpha Sorority (the organization), we joined because of Suzie the Alpha Alpha sorority woman (the person). READ THE REST OF THE ARTICLE HERE

Kappa Delta - any Georgia Southern KD girls? Newberry College? Susquehanna University?

Most Kappa Delta sorority sisters are looking for teddy bears, but there are quite a few who are thoroughly devoted to their local mascot, the frog. There are the Kappa Deltas at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA and of course, the Kappa Deltas at Newberry in SC. Then there is the Kappa Delta chapter from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA and the Alpha chapter at Longwood University. (If there are any others, please leave a comment with this post so that yours will be recognized, also.)

All of these items are handmade. The frogs are painted on items with acrylic paint to make them special KD gifts. The KD greeting card is made with a blank card and letters cut out of green & white gingham acid free scrapbooking paper. Making special cards is easy and makes a great Kappa Delta gift for a little or big. Tie a ribbon around a stack of handmade cards, topped with a bow, and you will have a lovely gift package!

I used to live in South Georgia and I made these types of gift items for the Kappa Deltas, Delta Zetas, Phi Mus, ADII's, ZTA's, and Chi O's at Georgia Southern.
