Sorority Gifts for Cheap!

Save money on sorority gifts when you make your own sorority gifts. Find directions for how to make sorority notebooks, a cute and practical gift at SororitySisters.net. Or buy a plush mascot and make a sorority necklace with your sorority letters for a very nice gift. Search this site for photos and directions for making many other sorority gifts and accessories.

Most of the sorority gift items shown in these pictures have handmade touches that make them unique and special. None of these items are difficult to make.

Another way to stretch your dollar is to buy an assortment from eBay like the examples above for Phi Mu, Kappa Delta, and Alpha Delta Pi. Etsy is another good site to check for unique handmade gifts.

Sorority Christmas Ornaments - Phi Mu, Alpha Delta Pi Lion

Make this simple lion Christmas ornament for your sorority sisters!

Materials needed:

Pre-painted wooden lion (or other sorority mascot)
A small wooden shape from a pack of Woodsies
Your sorority colors in acrylic paint
10 inches of matching ribbon
Elmers glue

Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry many wooden cutouts for about fifty cents each (less when they are on sale). Some of the cutouts that are available are gators, frogs, lions (above), crowns, bears, ladybugs, butterflies, etc. Likewise, Woodsies which are small wooden shapes are sold at craft stores.

Quick & easy directions for sorority ornament:

1. Paint a woodsie shape with your main sorority color (as blue & pink above)

2. When paint dries, carefully paint your Greek Letters on the woodsie shape (as white above)

3. When paint dries, glue shape wherever you like on your lion

4. When glue dries, turn ornament over and attach ends of ribbon to ornament with glue. I put a heavy glob of glue about 1/8" diameter. Adhere the ribbon ends in the blob of glue and let the glue globs dry for a 1/2 hour or so. (The glue dries clear)

Christmas is months away, but in order to enjoy the holidays, plan and make your Christmas gifts early this year. Making gifts for your sorority sisters is fun and easy.

Sorority Scrapbook Embellishments

At this time the sorority scrapbook paper is still available.

***

Since almost everybody is making or is planning to make a scrapbook to remember her sorority, I thought you might be looking for some help. The following images show scrapbook sorority embellishment packs for Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Delta Pi, and Alpha Epsilon Phi.

Update on 4-20-09
I am so sorry. I just checked and it doesn’t appear that this seller on eBay is offering the Greek Scrapbook Sets at this time. Hopefully, it is just temporary. These are such great sets!
Julie

These die cut papers are a timesaver, but there is no reason not to make your own if you have the time. Just pick out some scrapbooking papers in the colors and patterns of your choice. Use a pencil and a ruler to lightly sketch off your letters. Then cut them out and adhere to your scrapbook page.

Sorority Craft: Gift Baskets for Little or Big

Make your little sister a sorority gift basket and fill it with anything you like to make it more special.

You can use any basket for this idea, but chipped wood baskets work particularly well.
The colorful liner for the basket is made from a scrap of fabric. The tag is made from acid free scrapbooking cardstock.
Be creative with your tag. It can be as simple as your Greek letters applied with a marker, or you can use the idea above.... using your mascot as your design.

Tag Design Ideas:
1. Rubber stamp of mascot or sorority flower colored with pastel pencils
2. Sticker of your mascot, symbol, or flower
3. Cut out your mascot, symbol, or flower from a greeting card that you have saved
4. Draw and paint your own design

It doesn't take long to make your tag, and if you mess up, just start over

Scrapbooking Greek Bid Day & Rush

Remembering special sorority days and events is easier when you make a sorority scrapbook. A great variety of scrapbook papers, die cuts, stickers and much more are available at most crafts stores; however, finding specific Greek embellishments is often more difficult. You could make them yourself, but if you are in a hurry, a bag of Greek Embellishments can be a terrific time saver. I am not sure how widely available they are, but I have found some that might be what you need.

Bid Day/Rush/Go Greek Scrap Sack Cut-outs include: rectangle wavy frame, rectangle scallop frame, rectangle "outside" frames, filmstrip frame, journal tags, T-shirts, small camera frames, medium captions, swirls, RUSH (2" Circus letters), BID DAY (Shadowbox - double layer letters, pink and black), GO GREEK (Shadowbox - double layer letters, white and tropical), 2007. Unless otherwise noted, cut-outs are in "Tropical" colors of lime green, orange, turquoise, pink, sunny yellow; white and black.
